Three quick fixes

Airplane mode, restart, then manually select T-Mobile or AT&T.

Before you fly: install the eSIM

  1. 1Connect to Wi-Fi.
  2. 2One tap: on your iPhone, open your order page or email and tap 'Install on iPhone'. Follow the prompts (iOS 17.4+).
  3. 3Or scan: Settings → Cellular (Mobile Data) → Add eSIM → Use QR Code, then scan the QR code shown on another screen.
  4. 4Or manually: Add eSIM → Use QR Code → Enter Details Manually, paste the SM-DP+ address and activation code.
  5. 5When asked, label the plan 'USA'. Choose your home line as Default Line for calls/iMessage.
  6. 6For Cellular Data choose 'USA'. Turn OFF 'Allow Cellular Data Switching' so your home SIM is never used for data.

When you land: turn on data roaming

  1. 1Turn Airplane Mode OFF.
  2. 2Settings → Cellular → tap 'USA' → make sure 'Turn On This Line' is ON.
  3. 3In the same screen turn Data Roaming ON (required — the eSIM is a roaming profile).
  4. 4Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data → select 'USA'.
  5. 5Optional: turn Data Roaming OFF on your home line to avoid roaming charges.

Not connecting? Try this

  1. 1No internet? Toggle Airplane Mode on/off, or restart your iPhone.
  2. 2Settings → Cellular → USA → Network Selection → turn Automatic off and pick T-Mobile or AT&T manually.
  3. 3Settings → General → Transfer or Reset → Reset → Reset Network Settings (last resort — keeps your eSIMs).
